Each year at fred’s, we commemorate the fallen heroes of 9/11 through a fundraiser for local emergency response teams. In 2016, through our chain-wide efforts, fred’s raised a total of $231,093, which was donated to local emergency teams across our regions. Since the campaign began in 2002, we have raised more than $2.9 million for local fire, police and sheriff’s departments. At fred’s, we appreciate our relationships with local emergency teams and are proud to host this fundraiser each year.
In 2016, fred’s expanded the campaign to support local veterans organizations in honor of their service in the War on Terror that started 15 years ago in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. The campaign ran from August 14 through September 12, 2016, with each store selling Hero Hats for a minimum donation of $1. Our goal at fred’s was to raise $100,000 in Hero Hat sales during the 5-week campaign—a goal we exceeded by raising $104,293!
